WTB Dual port 1600 type 1 Engine
Hi everyone, Im after a Dual port 1600 type 1 engine running or not,
I'm after one that I can rebuild.
Im located Melbourne North.

nah type 3 is the same. cept u swap cooling tin, crank pulley, generaator, fan and generator mounts with the bug stuff. Oh and if u wanna run the type
3 dual carbs, u need a linkage kit too...
All u need to 'adapt' thats extra is an oil dipstick conversion. bolts down the bottom right of the type 3 case.
All in all, they have exactly the same 'long blocks'. i got one in my type 1 (bug) pan now.

69' baja: kombi box, thing spindles, irs, disc front, type 3 rear drums, 2 inch lift kit, 31x10 rears.
New engine in process: 94mm p&bs, 74mm C/w chomol Crank, 35.5x39 SP heads, turbo. Wierd combo, hopeful torque monsta!

by the way, those dipstick adapter things aren't hard to find, common as heck, andcheap as chips.

hey,
I want to rebuild it and run MS efi on it.
I want to install it into a beetle, will a type 3 1600 fit straight in or do I have to do all the modificationsto the tinware etc??

You can also drill the case to fit the original dipstick tube in,and no you use the beetle tinware.

type 3 engines bolt straight in, but its not healthy for the motor to fun on a bug.
The fan / air inlet faces the back, and the type 3 setup had ducting to bring air into it.
The vw bug doesn't supply that kinda ducting. Hence why the fan air inlet faces the front.
People have ran type 3 engines in bugs fine, but some have had issues with that, and it makes sense.
It will bolt straight up though.

well what I can do is get the type 1 tinware and install it as you said which shouldnt be a problem.
Do you know where I can get mexican manifold with fuel injection??
