FS - SA : early type 3 seats off the market

Name: Toby
Location: Adelaide 5022
Contact: here or PM or email type3lover at hotmail.com
Payment: cash, bank deposit

Pickup in Adelaide preferred or buyer to organise courier

Up for sale is a set of early type 3 front lowbacks and matching rear seat in fantastic condition.

I had them professionally repaired and recovered with all new foam and new TMI red basket weave covers last year. The frames were sandblasted, welded and painted and the broken springs all repaired. They have been fitted to the car once.

There is one small tear on the top corner of the back seat which I did when test fitting...gotta be more careful! Also, one of the front seats is missing the chrome piece on the adjuster. Other than that they look amazing!

They owe me around $900 ($250 for the TMI material and $650 for the repair and recovering work) but for a quick sale I'll take $600.

Reason for sale is that I am fitting some jap front seats and I no longer need a back seat

A few pics...can take more when I eventually find my camera charger!! This was test fitting in the car so nobody tell me I should have put carpet in first :spin:

The seats look great, since you are in Adelaide this would be an easier option than getting material from the US... Just wondering if the back seat will fit OK in a squareback. When I've looked on US sites for TMI stuff the squareback rear seat is always listed separately to notch/fasty seats. Do you have a photo of the tear?

Notch65s: I have no idea what a courier would cost? The rear seat is a little long for a pallet.

Greg: I do not think the back seat would suit a squareback. Hopefully someone who knows could confirm this though.

Below are a few more pics including detailed shots of the back seat showing the damage on BOTH top corners. This is only visible on one side when fitted as you can see below.

Damn yeah I thought that there was some difference but wasn't sure what it was, I'm new to type 3's, only had beetles before.

Too good to be true, I need an interior and this one is in Adelaide!!

Thanks for letting me know guys.

3andeasy: I'm pretty sure they were the same up until 1972/73?

I notice you are only 20 mins away from my place too. You're welcome to pop over to check em if you like.

Here's a pic of the rails in my 68 notch for comparison :

Gonna have to hang onto these for a while now.

I have been unable to contact the person who agreed to buy them a week ago and I'm over it.

Partly my fault as I didn't specify that I wanted immediate payment and I didn't get a phone number...

These will now be going into my notch for rego and until I source suitable jap replacements.

Sorry if any inconvenience caused. I'll delete the thread shortly.
