G'Day

G'Day, thought I would drop a line here as I'm new to the forum.

I come from a bit of VWing family. My grandfather drove beetles as did my dad and later my sister. I'm lucky in that my wife likes cars and had a mark one golf for several years.

A bit over twently years ago my first car was a '68 1500 bettle. It had been subject to various abuses by the time I got hold of it and at that time was being used as a mobile tether post for a cow.

I spent a good chunk of time completely rebuilding it. It got a beautiful baked enamel paint job. In the process I learned a fair bit. The bodywork resto was well ahead of the mechanicals and for a while it had a 356 Porsche motor loaned to me by a bloke I met while doing the rebuild.

I've had a few other cars since then but that beetle still sits in my mum's garage and she takes it out for a run once a week.

I'm currently casually looking about for a ute of some description. Probably either a bay or a T3. So I have been doing a lot of looking and reading.

Cheers

Welcome on board. I am sure you will find something on here to suit what you are chasing. Pics of your beetle would be nice as well if you have any.

Thanks folks, I have a T3 I am going to look at down here shortly, I'll see how it shapes up.

I'm not too familiar with the wasserboxer engine. I've read that they don't really go past 200,000km without major surgery. Also that there was a coolant incompatibility issue. Guess all I can do is take a look.

cheers
