Sponsorship Drive - Support Aussieveedubbers
Hi there,
I am going to contact all of our previous sponsors in an effort to woo you folks again. I'd really like to get to the point where we can do without
the Google AdSense (see bottom of the page), and to do that, we need at least 8 sponsors.
I am making changes to make sponsors lives easier and more rewarding:
You'll be able to advertise in the same Buying and Selling areas as everyone else, so you're not stuck in the Business section
You'll have sticky threads that you (and you alone) can make changes to as you see fit - advertise specials, events, etc as you need
Standard sponsors can change their banner up to four times a year.
Premium sponsors can change any of their four banners at any time.
Our current advertisers are:
VolksPower - expires today!
VintageVeeDub
VW Magazine Australia
Please thank these folks for keeping the doors open!
So if you know that you haven't seen your ad recently, and you don't hear from me by the end of the week, please contact me via PM or via admin @
aussieveedubbers.com.
If you'd like to start advertising with us, the packages will remain the same excellent value (and price!) through to June 30, 2011.
We currently have 5 standard sponsorships ($250 per year) and 2 premium sponsorships ($500 per year) open. I can accept direct debit, company cheque,
credit cards via Pay Pal, and Pay Pal. Once we get to $1k in sponsorships, I will retire Google Ads from all but Buying and Selling forums, and once
we hit the full mark, I'll retire them completely.
The forum needs a new development computer - my personal Mac is starting to die (screen and HD are both getting pretty flakey), and that's where I
develop the software used here. For a quick peek at what's coming soon, check out http://www.gaiabb.com/
If there's any funds left over after paying the hosting bills and hopefully a new development computer, I will be asking around for ideas of how to
spend spare cash. I like the idea of t-shirts and stickers, but I'd love to hear more ideas.
thanks,
Andrew

PM's sent.
@modulus - Very interested - I work in a small office, and fan noise and more importantly a lack of heat are vital to comfort as this is where I do my
day job. Does it have the ability to have the PSU swapped out for a silent / lower wattage unit, or is it already pretty quiet?
thanks,
Andrew

It's a mid-size tower case, so the best would be to swap the PSU for a quiet one; this one is is just normal level noise.
Let me know and we can organise transport. I'm in Geelong about once a fortnight, so may be able to bring it down.

That would be good - I'll PM you with my details if you're sure you don't need the machine.
There's a MSY down here, so I'm sure I'll be able to get a quiet PSU once I've worked out which sort is required (not all cases can take every
power supply, and quiet PSUs are often on the larger side to reduce fan blade speed).
thanks,
Andrew

Peter - thanks a million for the donation of the computer. I've got Ubuntu 10.04 installed on it now, and I'm just applying all 89 updates to it as
I write this.
I'll let you know how I get on with it. I've been meaning to re-release staging.aussieveedubbers.com for some time, so I'll see if I can get the
DNS and firewall rule changes required for that to happen so you can see your computer on a regular basis!
thanks,
Andrew

I suck. I've been in Tasmania for nearly a month and I don't check up on this place once?!?
Anyway, I will endeavour to get through all the messages - please bear with me. There will be a backup in a few minutes too.
thanks,
Andrew
