Roll cage - any ideas?
By now most of you know of my 'inversion' at Wakefield Park last Saturday.
I will be re-building the car, thanks to a kind donation of a donor car by Steve Muller (Kombi Rescue).
Perhaps the 'new' car should have a roll-cage. Has any-one any ideas on what type, and where to source a good one?

We can do you one at CVD , but probabley not that flash an idea considering our distance apart .
We are happy to help you on design though , keeping inline with the CAMS rules and our on hand engineer .

as above CAMS is the best way....Tagged and Certified
Dont always thinks cheapest is best iva cause some look real nasty....

Hi Greg. If you are after any ideas of mine etc I am more then happy to help with a few I have thought of and incorperated into my cars in the past
including new circuit bug. PM your number if you want and I will give you a call to discuss. There are numerous things you can do for safety and/or
stiffen the car. To many to write down in posts. Cage design depends on numerous things like safety, stiffness (and/or both) and what class you intend
on running. certain classes have restriction on what bars you can actually run in a cage (how dumb) i.e Imp pro, sports car, PRC and historic.
As far as construction goes there are numerous people who can build cages. Bond bars iis by far Australian's leading experts when it comes to roll
cages and buildling them. Can be a little on the $$$ if you want them to contruct a full weld in one. A very good friend of mine has recently opened
his own business in roll cage building and he is located in Canberra. A fellow racer and race car enthusiest and qualified engineer, having spent the
last 10 years working for dept of def.

I have a bond roll cage at home,it is a 4 point cage the rear goes back to the wheel arches.Probly good idea to get a full cage.It has to be steel
I'd rather die trying, than not have tried at all.

as little bends as possible and all bends should be supported by an intersecting bar or strut, tagged in as many spots as possible. run the legs into
the heater channel for the best stiffening of the car. triangulate door opening, and pickup the frame horns and the front beam. think about weight
cause all the tubing adds up i think ive got about 12 lm in mine and still gotta put the bars for the front beam in.

Whoever you get to build your cage, yourself or other, liason with CAMS closely.
They are very helpfull, i spoke many times with a guy there called Rupert.
