Another press article that's wrong.

It's not the 'Camper Van' that is turning 60 - it's the basic Transporter van (Type 21), which started production in March 1950. The 'Kombi' window van (Type 23) didn't appear until May 1950, and the Microbus (Type 22) in June 1950. Those are the ONLY Type 2s that are turning 60 this year.

The 'Samba' deluxe Microbus (Type 24) didn't appear until June 1951. The first VW Ambulance (Type 27) didn't appear until December 1951. The single cab pickup (Type 26) didn't appear until August 1952.

The Double-cab pickup, the Police Transporter - and the Westfalia camper - did not appear for the first time until 1958.
