Actually, what would you guys think its worth?
particularly with a NEW engine, programmable efi/ecu (can be worth up to 5k for a shop setup alone), disk brake conversion all round?
Atleast 10k u rekon? if the paint is in perfect nick? Although the yanks class the type 3 series as the 'rung of the litter', i'd value them
personally more than a bug simply on 'commonness'.
If the paint was new, and all the uphostery new, i would think it would be a fair price. (ie: restored professionally).

New engine in process: 94mm p&bs, 74mm C/w chomol Crank, 35.5x39 SP heads, turbo. Wierd combo, hopeful torque monsta!

yeah I know, but nothing is worse than thinking you got a good deal with the idea that no need for restoration, when it could well be
a half a$$ job which most of the time it is, especially if you are a perfectionist. best to buy a good restro basis car and do it to how you like.

Good to see someone trying to sell a Type 3 for what they're actually worth. If it's as good as it looks and as he says, I don't think it's far
off the money. Hope he sells it.
Spend 30+ K on a resto then sell it for sub 10K. Nooo thank you!

well people usually restore cars to keep and enjoy not to sell.
atm type 3s are a money pit not profit makers. but it looks like the trend is slowly changing for the good.

Dubs were meant to be affordable and cheap to run. He's just trying to get the money he spent on it back. Maybe an amateur. Then again....supply
and demand. It's been on there for a while. Would have gone in a day if it was 1/4 of the price, which seems to be what people are willing pay for
one in good condition.

Ba haaa haa! Affordable and cheap to run. Who said that? Hitler? Dude, you're on this forum because you LOVE to spend half your pay packet on your
ride and if you don't love it, expect to.
When you've spent $30k + on your ride and then sell it for $4000 so some 18 year old kid can wreck it in a year, come back and complain.....hey?
VW's are cool, fun and easily modifiable but they aren't cheap and they're getting less and less cheaper every year, mate.
Cheers,
Steve
PS Hope I didn't sound too cynical. Don't want to discourage people from owning them.. Maybe VW's can be as cheap or as expensive as we choose...

100% agree.....VW's can be as cheap or as expensive as WE choose.....
but if someone wants that car badly enough, then they will pay the money....
on the flip side, if he wants to sell it badly enough, he might need to negotiate!
They can be a money pit....but only if you choose to make it that way. (we wouldn't be on here if we weren't keen on improving them, loving them and keeping them going for years to come)

Yep I agree Scarab, I keep my bugs going on a shoestring, you need to if you are a pensioner but it hasn't stopped me, this is the difference between
VW's and other cars: you can get just about any part you need even if it means going worldwide and nearly everyone can get a grip on the technology
of a beetle (no computors!) so restos and maintenance can be acheived by all, as can be seen by the many female dub owners and range of ages.
Compare with trying to say keep a fifties Standard Vanguard going now, getting parts etc and imagine driving that in traffic! So I reckon prices will
keep going up for a while yet until electric takes over, even then beetles will still be around in electric form. The market will dictate

I got my first Type3 in 1985 because it was cheaper than a T1 and for a classic they still are cheap. What other classic do you want? EH,HR, MK1 MK2
Cortina, Torana, Hillman and see what people are asking. Type3 are cheap.
