2nd Gear Problem

Lately every 1 in about 10 changes up or down into 2nd gear, I can't actually move the stick into 2nd. The clutch is all the way in so obviously it's a syncrho mesh/gear box problem.
I even disengage and re-engage the clutch but it doesn't work. I have to go from first to 3rd and then down to 2nd again. No problems with any other gears.

Ideas guys? Happened to you before? Wht needs to be replaced and how much can it cost?

If the little plate at the bottom of the gear stick is loose and has moved you can loose gears.
If it was synchros it would go in just grind and it wouldnt effect moving up.
I reckon you need to check that plate. It is a bit hit and mis to realign it.

Another place to look is the coupling under the back seat. That could be worn and not twisting the gear bor properly

Otherwise i am guessing it is in the nose cone/hockey stick set up

Also check your tranny fluid level: too low can cause gear-change difficulty.

In fact, change it anyway - it probably hasn't been changed in decades!
