Costa

Has yours been convered to 12 volt??

Make sure the flywheel fits. You might need to grind out the bell housing.

Also make sure the starter motr / fly wheel are compatable

That is a general maintenance thing

They should always be in top condition - not just when you do a motor swap

Engine mounts

You will need to look to see what sort you have but would well worth the $$ and time to put some poly engine mounts (the one under the g'box) while the motor is out. Only an extra 10mins

If YOU havent done them - almost guarenteed they are split and your motor is only resting on them

Ok cool ill tell Steve to suss them out for me.

One more question b4 this i had a 40hp in it and it felt good- going to a TP 1500 how much more power will it have and will the car feel much more faster?

(i know it depends on how the engine is tuned etc but what the min power i should expect?)

Your old 40hp probabally put out mid to high 20 ponies at the wheels.
I am guessing this will put out mid 30 ponies

On Dyno day a stock 1600 was getting 39. The new motor will be under that.

Pretty sure Lugnuts had a 1300 and that was 30 or something so a 1200 a bit less

Yes the difference should be noticeable. I am guessing a 25 or more % increase. You wont be beating the Audi but you should now be able to overtake the old guy in the Volvo :D

My stock 1500 SP was putting out 34 Hp at the rear wheels, and I was told I should have had another 5 Hp or so. Based on that alone, I think you should expect at least 40 Hp at the rear wheels from a 1500 TP.

I think the list Hp for a 1500 SP is 54 Hp at the flywheel. :thumb

Shouldnt drink that much more.
You have a anerexic(sp?) car to start with

It is the lard arse super beetles that drink more cause they weigh more.

(guess you have to pay for good looks - eh!)

Lets see what we have here, according to the dynoday figures all the 1600s did from 38-39 horsies std, with a webber add 2 more. The 1500s one did 34 and needs attention ide say and one did a very healthy 40 bit suss there either fresh rebuild or something non stock,so im guessing 37 galloping stallions and 85% more power then Pat and Jens cars.No flames intended,:D
