Ratio Rockers

Thinking about puting 1.25:1 ratio rockers on my 1641 with a 110 Eagle cam. Has anyone had any experiance with ratio rockers what will be any problems I may come across?
Any Info would be good Cheers Nige

Look into it nore Nige

I dont think you would see a benefit with 1.25's on a 110 for the $400 it costs

1.4's are a better option but i am not 100% they are compatible with the 110

Yer Blue your probably right but the cataloge says that the 110 came will work with 1.25's and Ill be able to use my std pushrods & tubes etc. Just looking for extra lift and flow to help with the better flow of the carbies. Thought this might be cheeper than big valve heads and also a bolt on bolt off option.

I dont run them myself but my cam is 1.4 friendly and i may go with that.

For the money you are 1/2 way to a good set of Webers and you will notice much more inprovement.

Most of the people i know running 1.25's are recomending them for the cost

Was that Eagle 110 or Engle 110?

An Engle 110 with 1.25s would work with dual springs (with the head cut to take them) and a little taken off the top of the guides. Swivel feet adjustors and chromoly pushrods would be a must too; lightweight lifters recommended, and you'd want to go with at least stainless exhaust valves. 1.4s with this cam would require more serious head modification and start to look towards reduced head life.

Don't worry Blue the webers will be coming first. I got that weber tuning book from CB's that Wes put me on to. With it came there cataloge full of lots of cool stuff. I noticed there 1.25:1 Racer rocker arm kit $195 US comes complete with VW ratio rocker arms, steel spacers, hardened steel blocks and special race ready rocker shafts with bolt on thrust washers and swivel feet. Thought this might go that extra bit in using the webers to greater potential.

70Autostik thanks for the advice why would I need duel springs would it rev higher or just harder and also why a stainless exhaust valve. Sorry Ive not built a performace motor before but I want to slowly get to that point so any advice is gold to me.

Thanks Guys Nige:thumb

I won't disagree with this but instead tell u what I have done (got away with if u like) I was using standard heads with single springs, standard pushrods, with an Engle K-8 cam standard lifters & 1.25 rockers (505 thou lift) revving it to 7000rpm on the track & the street for 2 years before I stepped up to big valve heads, dual springs & 1.45 rockers.
I would strongly reccomend against duals if u don't race the thing, Instead, get some Berg Heavy duty single springs (about $60) & throw the 1.25 rockers on & u will be happy with the improved performance & if u accidently over rev it the Berg springs still won't let it valve bounce & damage your heads.
Hope this helps
regards
Jak

PS even now with the duals I have used soft inner springs so that I only have 120 pounds of spring pressure .

Thanks Jak is good to hear from you I was hopeing you would post something. I beleave any time you try to get more performance on a buget its always going to be what you can get away with in the short term. I think ill give it a go after I get my webers (saving $ franticly).

Between now and than is there any books anyone can recomend reading.

My pleasure Nige, if I can save people time & money I'm more than happy to help, I don't keep any secrets about my engine combo's with what works & what doesn't:thumb

By the way, the yanks rave about using the engle 120 with 1.25 rockers.

Jak

Acording to my manual Engle W-100 to 140 cames can be used with 1.1 and 1.25 rockers.

The kit Im thinking of getting is the CB performance Racer Rocker Arm kit it uses genuine VW 1.25 ratio rocker arms and other stuff you would need which Ive mentioned in another post here.

I will still envestigate of manufacturers products as it will be a while before I actually do this as I was informed this morning that the money I would spend on these could be used to finish of the laundry. Next time Im not going to open my mouth. Honisty is quit often not the best policy.

Cheers Nige
