Olive meets a Dyno
The Ausmini forum, where I am also a member, organised a dyno day in Geelong for today.
I would have taken my modified Mini Moke to this event. However, I found out about it after I had pulled the dash out of my Moke to do some mods,
effectively immobilising it.
The oppportunity was open to any car owned by a forum member, not necessarily a Mini. So I decided to take Olive along! She feels pretty lively to
me, so I was curious to see what she would do.
Here's a pic of Olive strapped to the rollers:
Here is the result!
44.1hp at the rear wheels on the third run.
For a stock 1600 TP with just an electronic SVDA, I reckon that's pretty damn good! I expected something in the 30's. It beat all the 998 and 1100
Minis, and was about the same as the two stock 1275cc 90's EFI Minis.
The dyno guy said the mixtures were spot on and she is in very good health.
Cheers,
Brett.

I know this is probab;y a massively overasked question but what did the 1600 motors come out of the factory, power wise? I always get confused.
But olive looks very schmick on the dyno, mine should be there soon

Thanks for the compliment.
A 1600 TP (before the 76 with ADR 27A strangulation) is supposedly 58hp at the flywheel. How much you lose through the drivetrain is a constant
source of argument, but is generally accepted as around 15-20%. Using 20%, Olive is spot on then...
