I wonder what happened to all the bits off the top of the shock absorbers?? 1968>

The rubbers are easy to obtain....

but never actually seen a NEW [or used] shaft that screws to the top of the shock absorber...

Yes
I looked for a long time before I found those rubbers at a reasonable price..
then found they wouldn't fit the shocks I had..

I see the kits are available in the USA..

I bought the large rubber bits a while back...

but used flat rubbers off japanese cars and washers also..
I used something?? inside of the bump rubbers as the hole in them is large compared to the shock absorber...

I wonder why VW went to all that trouble??
instead of fitting a standard shock absorber that come with rubbers etc.... ??

LEE

as I said, I have never ever seen those steel bits...

Umm... these kits are available here... Mick Motor's has 'em for sure (bought 2 there only about a month ago) and I'd be very surprised if places like Vintage or Classic didn't have 'em also.

vwmad... the $$$ for new parts from a reputable shop ain't much really... less than a tank of fuel...
