Hey Hey Ollly,
1 - Do you mean, goldie as in the colour of the car?
2 - Or do you mean, "Goldie", as in a roll back sun roof?
1 - As far as I am aware, gold was never offered as colour, however... in 1955, the 1 millionth Beetle rolled off the factory line painted in a
special gold hue to mark the special occaison.
2 - The "Goldie" rollback sunroof, was not avaiilable on a 1966 Deluxe Beetle,
Hope this helps.

Yes the sunroof (steel, not fabric) was available on Australian 1966-67 Beetles. It was actually described as a third model, the 1300 Sunroof, joining
the 1300 Custom ($1598) and the 1300 Deluxe ($1838). The few issues of Wheels magazines from that era don't list a separate price for the 1300
Sunroof, but I imagine it would have been another $150-$200 or so.
This is a photo from the Australian VW brochure of Feb 1967. In the specs, it only says 'Sun roof optional extra'.
I don't know whether Golde was the maker of the factory steel sunroofs on Australian-manufactured Beetles of that time. Ask Dave Birchall - he owns
one. You'll find him beside the biggest beer esky at Valla.
