Help with WRX conversion

Hey all. I am going to be doing a ej20T conversion in the next couple of months but not sure what engine to go for. What is the best year WRX to look for and what should I stay clear of in terms of conversion problems. What do you think of the Jap import front cuts, are they the same as australian spec subi's. Also I have been seeing alot of Forester GT turbo engines are they as good? thanks

My understanding, and I am sure others may know more, is that the Forester GT's got smaller turbo's than the WRX's, so if you are planning to build a screamer, you may as well go straight for a WRX turbo motor.

Not that I have undergone it yet - but from what I've read try and get a OZ new just because the Jap wiring looms are quite different.

According to the subi guys here the JDM spec computers are better tuned than AUDM

Theres certainly an obvious difference between Joshs and Ians bugs with Joshs laying down over 220 at the wheels and Ians only around 174 from pretty well identical setups

What costs are you aiming for for this type of conversion... Sorry if it's a big diff... Maybe to the nearest $500 or $1000

Believe me, the budget you come up with before starting never resembles the budget on completion

Early wrx engines have the bigger turbo being the tdo5h. they then went to the smaller Tdo4.... some auto ej20t's have smaller turbos again. After 2002 they go to variable timing. I got my last motor of rexnet.

One of the best motors about would be a V3sti , it has yellow injectors, vf23 turbo and goes like a bat out of hell you would want the full harness and ecu

There is a twin turbo motor in whats called a GTB , this has yellow injectors and best made into a single turbo. I have this motor in my liberty running a VF34 / 18 . I had AM auto do the single conversion to the TT harness

Looking for that special lady : PM me for coffee & cake
