Ol' No.8 Beetle has gone to a new home. I know mactaylor appreciates the tremendous advantages of swing-axles and drum brakes. :tu:

OK Greg,I have studied the pics of "the suspension" - you are difinately a "Genious" .You tried to explain it to me once, and it was difficult to visualise without being there.Do I see 2 wheel cylinders on the front brakes? The front stub axles are definitely something else.Awesome!!!

Glad you've finally got the picture, Gary. :smirk:

Brakes are 356 Porsche drums, twin leading shoes at the front. :tu:

Yes it took a while. I seem to remember you haggling a bloke at the swap meet at Fontana for early Porsche brakes- don't remember if you scored though. The suspension on No 8 is unbelievable. Legend young fella

Crikey, Mac...what caused the "minor brake problem" ? Can't imagine how that would feel.

You say no damage...how about the Reg Grundys ?

Fabo, they're actually 3 piece wheels.

Never had any sign of that brake problem, Mac. Maybe the M/C has failed, as you suspect. Is there brake fluid leaking anywhere ?

1-44 is pretty quick at Winton. :tu:

Mac check how your handbrake ( if fitted ) is adjusted as if the handbrake leavers are adjusted on too hard it'll leave your rear drum slaves too far to travel and give you a vauge pedal at unpredictable times

Don't let body work get in the way of real suspension travel

Fabo, The wheels are a 3 piece design by greg and his sons, centres were water jet cut alloy with white horse industries hoops. Nice and light! Towd, I tried the hand brake trick, It did not help. Its an odd one! Greg I was on the long circuit! It goes nice!

Took the rocket to Wilby circuit on sunday, Had a blast. Nice tight little track that suits No.8 to a tee! Seventh outright. Had a shifter coupler failure that made 2nd impossible to select while on the fly! so slowed my times a fair bit.

Thanks Greg It is great fun! Really starting to get comfortable. The brakes are very good! 100 mph stops every lap no problems, but I have to stand on them! but they keep working! A few more ponies would be nice.......... Going to buy a gopro, gets pretty busy in there sometimes. Fabo have you got a link to the samba coupler?
