Hi

Between Nissans, my sons Beetle and other cars I haven't done much to my bug, but I went to Bunnings today and bought some timber and stuff to make a body dolly. I saw this design on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wG29Jjkrrlk

I've had whopping cough the last few weeks and it has hit me pretty hard so I haven't done much on the car, its just about ready to lift the body off the pan.

But I have been doing a lot of planning so hopefully it all go well soon

Just got my Simmons wheels fixed thanks to Magman at Puncbowl, he stripped them, repaired an outer rim and painted them the same charcoal as my other wheels.

All Alloy Welding welded and straightened one of the centres, excellent work by them and I had to buy a new inner and outer rim from Tempe Tyres

I'm thinking about it Paul but I'm not sure if it would handle my power output or hard launches that I do at the Snowy or drag racing, it would make the car lighter. Cost wise a Subaru box with good stuff in it is getting up there as well

already spoken to Todd, he said stay with G50, my car weighed 1160 stripped ready to race at WSID, a G50 weighs 66 kgs, what does a Subaru box weigh?

Im taking the bellhousing to get welded next week, I will see how that goes then make a decision

Steve, see if the welder can add some gussets to the box for additional strength.

Hi

G50 bell housing is at All Aluminium welding at Chipping Norton, they are confident that it can be repaired and made stronger, fingers crossed.

Chassis is well under way

I picked up the bellhousing form All Aluminium Welding, they did a great job, I will take it back out to Michael Newton the Porsche specialist for him to reassemble the G50.

I'm taking the pan to the panel beater tomorrow for a test fit

Hi

Body is now temporarily on the pan so the panel beater can give it a tug to line the front 1/4 back up again, once he's finished with it I will get the pan finished off and painted.

On Wednesday I'm driving to Birdsville in outback Queensland for music concert http://www.bigredbash.com.au/bigredbash/index  , after I get back from Birdsville I have 2 weeks of work then a week long VW show http://volkswagenspectacular.com/,  then after that I'm back into getting my bug back on the road.

Entries are open Wednesday for the Snowy Mountains 1000 in November, if I cant get my bug ready in time I will take my rice rocket daily a 180SX Nissan.

Panel work is finished, it will be painted next week, then I can get started on the chassis.

I'm going to fit an air intake in the right rear mudguard like Jak and Matt have done, I will pass air through a BMC air filter box http://www.bmcairfilters.com/eng/ota-oval-trumpet-airbox/acota70-85l230-b/812... Im going to lift and turn my turbo so I dont have to run air under the inlet manifold and fit a V band housing to it

I've fitted a E85 Walbro fuel pump in place of the Bosch 044

Hi Matt

It was good to finally meet up after all these years. Some help would be good with my scoop, I'm only going to do right hand side, what size hose do you run off yours and do you have any tyre clearance issues with it?

Hey steve,

Its a 90mm pipe however it is not a whole pipe..its more like a oval shape where it comes under the guard. I have had it rub a couple of times however i was planning on making a few minor adjustments to fix this issue.

Ill have a go at making a mold of mine for you..bit bored at the moment..haha

They are just aero guards on the front and rear that I have modified.

I made a set of aero style wide guards without the large tail light years ago and have the molds but one of them had separation problems and i need to grind the mold back before i can glass a set. should get onto that as well The shape of the intakes will be slightly different depending on the style of rear guard that you have.

Let me have a play this weekend and see if i can make a generic one.

Wife is out to night so no distractions!!!
