I've been having fun driving the Beetle around, I'm going to do Powercruise at Sydney Motorsport Park next month, after that I will pull the motor out and get a new clutch made.

I also just bought a Tial .82 rear housing, I'm getting GCG to do some magic on the cool side of the turbo and then I will go looking for some more kWs

Hi

Car has been going well, I took to the VW Nationals supersprint. took it easy first run but the engine developed an oil leak out of the cam cover, so rather spreading oil every over the track I stopped racing.

I also found that the tyre had touched my air intake and ripped it out of the mudguard, its never touched before but the extra lean from more speed allowed to the tyre to touch, so back to the drawing board.

The motor needs to come out for the clutch issue that I had at Gunnedah I will tidy all these things up then.

Steve

I was taking it very easy Jeff, I wanted to get some heat into the tyres.

speaking of tyres on the rear I was running 245/40x18 R888R tyres, I'm going to fit some 255/35x18 next, they are 635 mm OD compared to the 245s which are 653 mm OD. this will help with clearance a little

I went to see Westy today for help with my re engineered air intake to give me a bit more clearance

Hi

I bought myself a eBay motorcycle lift to get the motor out, it worked great. I have a removable rear apron so the motor was able to be pulled backwards. It's much more stable than a floor jack.

I think it would be difficult to use a motorcycle lift with a fixed rear apron because you need to tilt the motor to get around the bodywork.

So I'm posting the clutch and flywheel to NPC in Queensland on Monday

My car has a removable rear apron, not sure if there is enough manoeuvrability to get a motor in and out with a fixed rear apron

I also bolted some 2x4s on the top to reach the motor easier
