Any major difficulties in hooking these up to a IRS beetle?

talk to the boys at custom vee dub in QLD. I'm pretty sure they have done this a few times, but it takes a bit of fabrication. what makes you want a kombi box?

Getting a stroker motor so wanted somerthing a bit stronger :)

Figured they would be better than a 1600 box. That or spend some big bucks getting my box rebuilt or a Rancho box.

If its an irs bug, you can buy an adapter kit. Complete bolt on solution. Kit would come with mounts to adapt the kombi transmission (both front and rear), often a strap for the centre of the transmission and a shifter coupler adapter.

All is left is axles, where you need kombi inners and bug outters.

These kits are common, custom vee dub have em, sharp built have em, even empi has a solid mount mass produced adapter kit.

You would need to change the bell housing of the 1800 box with a 1600 to fit a type 1 motor (unless you go type 4).

69' baja: kombi box, thing spindles, irs, disc front, type 3 rear drums, 2 inch lift kit, 31x10 rears. :tu:
New engine in process: 94mm p&bs, 74mm C/w chomol Crank, 35.5x39 SP heads, turbo. Wierd combo, hopeful torque monsta!
