Most comfortable/suitable seat

Just wondering which seat most believe to be the most comfortable & suitable (as in fit to car) as a replacement for the driver's seat for a 1969 Kombi. I've got a donor seat for a base. thx

Can't go wrong with Recaro's, they only make quality seats. If you can't afford a new one, there are plenty of good 2nd hand ones around e.g. from Proton Satria GTi wrecks

Yeah I will look into the Proton option. Do you have a photo of the Proton Recaro fitted in your Kombi?

Does anyone know the name of the Proton wrecker in Perth?

Chris

I have these seats in my L bug

They would suit a combi as they are VERY low at the rear of the base where your bum sits
They also have a flat base
A frien had the same model in a T3 Vanagon

You could get the original seat built up with new cushions/foam by an upholsterer. That is my plan for my 69 so that I retain the original look but improve VW's complete lack of lumbar support option.

From my investigations that is not a cheap option

The price I was quoted for a re-spring, pad, cover of stock seats I was past what I paid for the Recaros
Start thinking of modifying a stock seat with a bolster here and a bolster there..............$$$$$$$$$

Took me a while to find what I was after though

Try a local auto parts store for SAAS brand aftermarket seats. They are not too hard to fit, no harder than Recaro. They are a bit cheaper. You will need to squeeze the seller on price, but usually you can get about $1000 a pair.

ive got a 73 bus and i bought some seats from a wrecker for 100 bucks, the donor was an import Pajero around '92 ,grey leather ,cloth inserts, lumbar support ,even have seat heaters. best part is they have a flat base and with a 5 minute mod bolt straight in...after drilling holes of course...it pays to have a sharp eye when shopping for bits

Recaros are also factory fitted to import toyota surfs..Try Import Monster they are jap parts importers and brokers..they can bid on your behalf and bring sets of recaros back too. Try JESSE STREETER..he lives in Japan and can send recaros back too.
