Ranualt NG3
I know certain renault boxes are good for engine conversions. I've come across a really good value Renault NG3 box from a Fuego .. would this be a
good box to fit - and what is involved?

It looks like a long gearbox, possibly too long for a type 3. Also it's from a front wheel drive car, can you flip the crownwheel in these?

Hi
I don't know if it would handle very much horsepower, it would be relatively easy to fit a Kombi bell housing to the front of it.

The Fuego had 110bhp.. but these boxes have 4 spider teeth.. and 5 speed.
I thought they used these in GT40 kits but perhaps it was the Renault 25 gearbox

Um I think the trans you are thinking of is the UN5 which is a 4 speed (i think) truck trans. The offroad guys like em.
but like MM said, the drama would be the R&P in it. Same issue as subaru boxes.

I'm pretty sure renault build North South front drive cars - so that is good.. and wouldn't be surprised if you can flip the crown wheel - don't
they do that with the UN box?

The UN1 is the truck 4 speed, the UN5 is the 5 speed, also from a truck iirc. My 4 speed, a ZF MD-18, also from a Renault truck, that I have recently
fitted to my beetle, has an 11 1/4" crown wheel and 4 planetry gears the size of a tennis balls. Problem is you need very tall tyres or an Albins
c/w&p to get the gearing useable, but it;s very strong.
