bloody ute


my 72 lowlite ute has chewed it way through another motor thats a 1600 than a 1800 and now a 2lit
first 1 had a rag in the fan from prevous owner the 1800 did a cam and the 2 lit looks like another cam
i think i'll park it:mad::mad::crazy:

did you mix and match lifter manufacture with different cam manufacture?

no it was in a 76 van said recoed not that i take much interest in word of mouth.it sounds very like the cam failing on the 1800

What oil are you using ?

if mismatch lifters and cams are used then the metallurgy are very likely to be different.
Which always results in premature cam or lifer failure, depending on which is the softer metal. They must be the same metal/hardness in order to last any length of time.

the problem is starting to look like a valve has dropped hope thats all as i have a new head sitting the shed,
i may only need t scrounge up a 2 lt barrel and piston
oil was straight 30 been using it for years
it's jut depressing that is 3 engines in 18 months and the van has never given me any grief

wash ya mouth out rose i'm not a tratar a louse speller yes and it is only a loose valve seat PHEW ,and i have removed it in car not as hard as thought

well for any interested the bloody thing has a floating valve seat only damage is just the seat, so happy drinking again but it does explaen the trouble i have been having with the tuning for the last year

that would of been caused by over heating at some stage.
