Respray Type 3 price
What are people paying for a respray?
Looking at a squareback and want to respray it, just on the outside. Its a two tone and want to change it to just one colours (same colour one of the
existing colours). Won't need much prep work as was restored about 5 years ago.

Yeh, thats the answer I am getting from panel beaters.
Okay, how much for the paint stock color (ruby red) for the exterior of a Squareback?
Existing paint is pretty good (a few chips), rust all taken out five years ago and car completely rebuilt. Thinking/hoping will just need a bit of a
rough up then a respray. How much do you recon?

As people have said, it depends enormously on many factors. You can paint a car in your own driveway for $150 and have it turn out okay if you take
your time and do everything properly. A really good backyard job could use $500 worth of paint. I would budget at least $5k for a decent paint job in
a paint shop, or more for show quality. If you want to go and win Top Paint at a car show then you're looking at $10k and beyond, some show cars
would have six figures in their paint jobs.

If you say that your existing paint is pretty good, then try giving it a good thorough polish up, and perhaps touch up some chips and scratches.
You'll be amazed what cut and polish can do for a paint job.

It is a hard one, but a few ways to look at it study paint find out which paint shop use's what paint as big price difference in paint systems.
I would reckon 2.5ltrs as the roof is a fair surface then hardner 1.2ltrs most 2 pac 2-1 some 4-1[which are cheaper] with reducer 1ltr.once you have
the cost. don't forget Paint shops all ways get their paint cheaper then joe blow off the street.
Labour it is like a hair cut you get apprentice cut you hair but yet you pay for full qualified hairdresser.So find a shop not a recommend insurance
repairer shop.Small shop but with a good name .And if they are fair bloke you can negotiate a separate quote for your remove and replace ,panel ,
paint, as you can cut down on this quote to make it more affordable.Don,t except the a 3000$ will do as more then likely thats were they start but
not were it ends.A lot of people say I don't want a show job but then complain about things on the finished job .
How long do you want the job to last is the big $$$$$ issue and the biggest question .

Respray Type 3 price
haha 80 grand I am not even going there, its a vw type 3...
If you ring around, talk to a few people who do VW's regularly, the car has no or little rust work and its outside only, you can get a job done for
between 4000 to 5000 dependant on paint and the job will put a smile on your face.
Sometimes you can get a porterhouse for $18 bucks at the local pub or you can pay $40 at a fancy restaurant. With some exceptions ur still getting a
porterhouse either way. As long as you want it done medium its a pretty basic process.

Im having my 1956 beetle restored and resprayed at the moment, and already up to nearly 13k, and really wasnt that bad before work commenced, or so I
thought. I really starting to question is it worth it, although the work is A1, where do you stop?

We just dropped in my mates coupe to a pro panel shop at logan village. Hes looking at $5000 cash for 2 pac mitsubishi evo x white all round with a
few gloss black areas on the outside for features, includes paint inside the door jams, engine bay etc.
For prep, he just had to make sure the trims on all the outside were removed, and the engine bay cleared. They aren't painting the interior, and they
will be doing the sanding.
His car was pretty straight with only a few dings, no rust. The more work you do for the panel beater, the cheaper it will be 
Some real recent senario stuff for food for thought.

Its cos Helbus works with big boys toys and no bog spray jobs. he had an awesome thread of a 356 with just beautiful panel work. The was that well
metal finished, you could just put clear over it as there weren't any mistakes or blemishes to hide.

80K is a lot of money.
A panelbeater told me once: "That it doesn't matter, if the car is a ' 67 Beetle or a '63 E-Type. Both cars have to be stripped, welded, all bolts
replaced and then painted."
I'm sure Hellbus has said something similar in other threads.
