FS - newcastle LOWERED front struits - suit 71 beetle
Suit a 1971 beetle with a 3 bolt ball joint on the bottom. Will lower a standard beetle 80mm and give you approx 150mm ground clearance depending on
what wheels & tyres you use
the struits have been fitted to a vw but never been used .

95% of 74s are the later 2 bolt front end not the early 3 bolt like these

Good question. I am just chasing dollars for a while (for once in my life). Only a few years I hope. I miss Port heaps though - will be interesting to
see how I last.

Would these simply bolt on to lower a '71 super ? Or would I need to make other adjustments / buy other parts to prevent rubbing or effect steering ?

It all depends on what wheel mags , stock rims etc.thats the fun of owning a old car , you just bolt them in and then see if tyres etc dont rub on the
guard etc| Quote: | Originally

apparently there are 2 types of stock rims ??, mine had the smaller out side dish and the wheels just missed my guards.

Hi Ian
What did you take them out for? Looked like a good way to get some ground clearance for the sump.

Well 2 different widths and 4 different offsets.
As long as they are the correct 4" et34 for a 71 super you shouldnt have any dramas with 165 tyres.

Yeah it's under the hubcaps stamped on the raised sections in between each wheel nut.
Depending how many coats of silver foam the rims have had in there life it can be abit hard to read.

I cant see much under the hub caps. I can make out the VW logo on most of them, 3 of them I can see 8/70 7/70 and 7/71 which i assume are the dates,
and 2 i can see 4JX15 and another just the '5' but not 4 ET34. This is a 1/71 super
They all have 165 r 15 tyres tho

Sometimes the stampings are hard to see and a bit faint but most of the time theyre just buried under paint.
You got 3 different date rims there too.
Width, date and offset.

I'll have to get the buffer wheel out and get sum of that paint off, it usually brings up the stamped VW logo pretty well on other parts I've used
it on. Im pretty sure the 7/71 rim I have swapped from my other super which was made 8/71 and it isnt running stock so i used the rim with the best
tyre. But there must be a few layers put on there cause I can really only see the heavy indented "T" shape on a few, no where near as clear as yours
Joel.
