You only need to change the bulbs/globes if its an Aust spec Karmann Ghia..

You would need to take the 6 volt bulb out the rear of the headlamp and take it to a VW Shop...
some of the 6 volt bulbs are very hard to find in 12 volt these days...

The USA specs had sealed beams....
just ordinary 7 inch..12 volt Hi/Lo sealed beams
it may be easier to buy new semi sealed beams from a VW parts shop... [much cheaper then Auto one etc...]
and also bright H4 sealed or semi sealed beams..

cheers

LEE

Cheapest Option

If your not too fussed about originallity, or you want to save those expensive to replace stock headlights, you can fit mini headlights with 7" sealed beams. You can buy them brand new from mini suppliers very cheap and they fit remarkably well.
