WTD late type 3 callipers
Wondering if anyone has a set of late type 3 front callipers for sale?
These are the large 4 bolt ones.
Hoping some one has a functioning set I can use on the car while I get mine reconditioned.
Also anyone know where you can get type 3 rear drums from?

4 pin?
I am possibly wrong but I am pretty sure I have the "late" setup all round with type 4 front discs, and my calipers use 2 pins, and 2 big bolts. The
rear drums are massive compared to any 4cyl car on the road with drums.
Recently I ordered some beetle/type 3 backing plates from cip1.com, and they don't fit. The calipers are too big.
I use Bendix DB2 pads...same as merc rears i think.

question? would 71 type 3 take the larger pads. I have been told that the 73 model used type 4 calipers and the earlier disk brake type 3s used beetle
style caliper.
Now I have own all from 70 to 73, 73 being the first one I owned and I don't think the calipers were any different to each other, well as far as I
know. But I know a guy who swears by this?

I think only the 74 type 3 has the 411 discs and calipers ,
and yes they do require the DB2 pads.
All the earlier ones have the s bug calipers (smaller pads , same size pistons)

Hey, thanks for all the replies! I'll try and answer inorder
yes, callipers are bigger. I have tried a few of
my regular places to buy from over the last few months and still don't have any. Lucky my drums are still legal...
Bushes, 72 will be fine, would you post to brisbane?
Birdman, thems the ones!! Will be interested if bushed can't post
Type3lover/vlad see birdmans pics
I have/have had a range of vws from Lbug to '69-'73 type 3's
I have not taken extensive measurements but as best I can tell they all have the same discs, and all type 3 have the same callipers
I must admit I have never measured calliper widths if only the pads changed.
Unrelated, but I know kombi's had a change around 71 and it was purely to take a thicker pad for longer life
Johnny, the callipers on my beetles have a smaller mount bolt spacing, so are not interchangable.
What is a '74 type 3? I thought they stopped in '73?

I had a late type3 beam that I ending up giving to bushed.
No idea what model it was but both rims were late 72 not that that means anything but anyway I tried the calipers for it on my bug cos I could see
they were bigger and beefyer but the mounting bolt spacing was different to the bug spindle
