Some people are now taping the inlet hole and fitting a fuel pipe fitting... so, it can't come out....

I have been doing this for years you can also makea small metal tab with a hole in it to go under one of the carby top cover screws or wrap a piece of tie wire aroun d the carby as you suggest

Also the most important one is to do the fuel pump outlet line as this will and does also fly off under pressure

the problem is you have 2 diffent metals brass and Alluminium so Corrosion can occur between the diferent metals and will cause the pipe to come off and creat a fire

Most people by now have one of the replacement pumps with the 1 piece pressed steel tops so they cant spit the fitting out.

As above the best saftey measure is the old saftey wire on the carb and old style pumps
