[FS - VIC] 58 beetle restored
Seller: Chris / Sam
Location: Belgrave, Vic, 3160
Tel: 0434 395 109 / 0424 144 217
Restored / modified 59 beetle for sale. Lots of work done.
Body:
Bare metalled and resprayed Diamond Green inside and out.
Repro Vert engine lid.
All correct panels elsewhere. The bonnet hinges have been modified to the later spring style so no more creased bonnets because you forgot to undo the
strut.
New headlights.
New WCM rubbers throughout.
New chrome body trim.
Ltd edition yellow Wolfsburg crest from Karmann Konnection in the UK.
New 1/4 vent windows.
New handles and locks throughout
Original VW blade bumpers rechromed including the small correct overriders.
Chassis:
Bare metalled and resprayed Diamond Green top and bottom.
Narrowed front end with CB disc brake kit. The kit increases the track back to the correct width.
New Kinks and links, shocks, etc.
New / rebuilt rear brakes.
Drivetrain:
Rod Penrose built 1914 engine.
Twin 40mm Dellorto carbs (rebuilt by Alan Agyik) with new manifolds and linkages.
New exhaust (which I would probably change now as I don't like the looks)
Rod Penrose supplied reconditioned 1500 box with improved ratios.
All tinware matt black.
'Volkspower' 15" wheels. These are (I believe) the only original set of 15" wheels. THere are a few 14's about. These are a real love them or
hate them wheel. If you are the latter I would reduce the price slightly and I keep the wheels.
Interior:
New Diamond stitched seat covers and door panels in tan vinyl by 'Bitchin Stitch'.
Tan vinyl headliner (never fitted).
Gene Berg locking shifter.
KK supplied 356 replica VDM steering wheel.
Original radio in dash (not hooked up).
Electrics now 12V with an early 12V wiper motor and 12V semaphores.
The price is $22,000 with a VIC RWC and the VWAGON license plates.
I will not be parting this out unless somebody wants to buy it without the wheels, steering wheel etc.
I do have pictures but don't seem able to post them. I can email them to anybody who wants them or would appreciate it if somebody would post them up
for me.
I do not want to sell but personal circumstances dictate that I must. Contact Chris or Sam on the numbers above if seriously interested.
Cheers
Chris

Thanks for the comments.
I got the lid from Nick Bubblehead off here about 5 years ago. He bought it from a swap meet somewhere. THe quality is good. It needed a little bit of
love before paint but nothing out of the ordinary.
Reasons for selling? Purely financial. When I built this I spent a fortune creating my idea of my 'perfect' beetle. I would rather sell a kidney
than this. So if anybody wants to buy my kidney I'll gladly keep the car. The kidney is in slightly abused condition though.

Chris
I couldn't belive my eyes when I saw the ad up here. I know you've wanted this car for a long time. Its turned out nice well done the lid fits it
nicly.
As for the kidney Scouse kidneys only come with a 15 year garantee from new so yours is truly over due.
Cheers

Nice.
I have a 58 as well. Except it is a covertable. It is good to know what my car should really look like.
Good luck with the sale.
