Bagging a bug.
Heya fellow dubbers, kind of new to this whole thing so I apologise if I end up fulfilling the stereotype of the newbie and end up posting my thread
in the wrong section with a question thats been asked a million times!
I did a bit of a search and couldn't really find much on what I was looking for, and theres no better way to get an answer than asking a question.

SO I have a few questions that I have been wondering for years now. I've been planning a bug build for quite some time, and having recently purchased
a runaround car to get me to and from my studies I have decided that it will not do and if I'm going to start wasting my money on something other
than shitty coke and hookers it might as well be something I've been dreaming about for years.
1) I've been doing a bit of research on the net and asking around a few of my mates who have bagged cars and nothing can seem to come up with a
concrete answer for me as to where the fark I can buy a bag kit for a bug in Australia, everyone says that I'm going to have to custom do it, which
is going to be a pricey and time consuming thing. Moreso than the coke and hookers. 
So my first question is; is there a kit available in Australia that I can either bolt on or get someone to weld on, that will put a bug on bags?
Doesn't necessarily have to include beams or spindles and the whatnot, but it would be nice.
2) Through my research I found a website called AirKewld who supply complete air ride kit, with the option of adding in narrowed beams, spindles, wider fenders e.t.c.
Problem is they are based in the US.
Has anybody used these guys before? I can just think of the nightmare of trying to import all of the stuff, and if something goes wrong, ohhh the
problems.
3. Can any one of you guys recommend me a good place to get a kit like this installed/custom installation?

ok first things first.
have you spoke to an engineer? as this will require a certification to be legal.

If your using Airkewld; i've havn't heard anything but good things about their kits and service. Normally the US companies can be better than some
local ones.
Good installers and legalities would be dependant on where you live....
but as Barls said talk to an engineer and forward the link to airkewld to him; as the engineer will have the final say...

Definitley speak to an engineer first. Not much fun if you spend all the money and find you cant drive it on the roads.

if your in qld go see custom veedub, they have had a bagged bug in the shop for aaaaggggees to attempt to make it legal in DOT eyes, not sure if its
been finished, theres a maroonish bug on bags that i see on the rare occasion too, but thats not approved but it does prove some people have done it
around here

Thanks for your help guys, I will speak to an engineer when I can.
Would anyone be able to sling me a rough idea of installation costs, if I were to get a shop to do this, or, most of it anyway? |
