Sorry but seeing these photo's only made me cry. This was my old beetle "Gladys", she was never a rat. This is how she used to look, a perfectly
fine beetle without a whole hacked in the roof...

Biggest fail i've seen in a while.
Don't know why anybody would ruin a perfectly good car just for hipster points.
Yeah yeah, "personal taste" blah blah.. Fact is, a wonderful example of a terrific machine got ruined for shits and giggles. It's a shame.
I really like true rats as they have a lot of character. I just don't like to see things ruined for the sake of it though.

It is each to their own, and i guess it the right you give up when you sell a car. Gladys wasn't perfect, but i didnt think she was that bad to get a
hole cut in the roof and be stripped?

hey all love the feed back on my car, and yes it is personal choice, its called build a car for ur self and dont care wat other people say, if u dont
like the car thats cool just keep ur mouth shut. and just so u no it wasn't a terric machine, fact is all panels have been replaced on the car so i
could actually find some metal on her, paint hides alot AzzA_teu just cause it looks pretty from the outside doesn't mean its good. it is bullshit
hard to find a true rat, so sorry if i disgusts u.
also should point out car is no where near finished, just thought i would take her out and get ridiculed by the VW community, thanks for the hate guys
ill see u at the next shoow ready for ur disaproval

bonnet is the one u gave me, picked up all new guards off a wrecked bug from the auctions, roof is getting braced after the tranny lift is done, hard
wooden slats round the edging then mexican blanket cover. car is far far from being finished, just wanted to take it to a show, every one at the show
seemed to like it, but guess it freaks out enthuseists, they just need to chill out and have a laugh, the car has shit loads of character Azza, and
wat ever hipster points is it wasnt for that, im only 20 years old but have been going to hot rod shows since i can remember, and beleive me if i
could have found a true rat and afford one on minimum wage living out of home building a car on the gold coast, i would of, the chance just didnt come
up, cant wait forever

Mate it's all good, you should just ignore people like me. Strictly speaking, unlike the car show, you didn't post your car up here yourself (I
assume) asking for comments, so everyone should really keep their opinions to themselves. It's hard to resist though.
Seeing the car before and after is quite a shock. Seeing the car without the before shot will still provoke polarising views as its just that sort of
car.
I do think it's cool you have a plan/vision for the build, it'll feel awesome when you reach it. Hope you one day feel like posting a pic or two up
when it's done so I (and others) can eat our words. Cheers

This Almost Brought a tear to my eye how could some one do this to that perfectly good 60's bug like this would be a dog effort to do on a superbug
little own a 60's nice restored classic. what a waste of hours of time and effort putting into the paint for it to be all sanded back into a rat its
realy sad.

I don't care whether people keep their mouth shut or not. I like to hear the opinions. I am all for getting original one owner 40 plus year old cars
and chopping them to pieces. I have cut up and modified heaps of original paint 1960's cars. I love it. The cleaner original they are the better they
are to cut up.

whilst i think a rat should be 'made' from a car 'already approaching' rat status (otherwise you are trying too hard, or a try hard?), I really
like the idea of wooden slat seats, very cool.

hey benjicon sorry for late reply im never on here, purists dont like me hahaha. lil update, been pretty slack but engine is out just making up
brackets for tranny lift, redone all my wiring and air gear, raised thefloors 2 inches and couple of other lil things, will be getting pin stripping
and sign writting in the next couple of weeks, start getting her ready for coolie rocks on
