Gran Turismo 5 PS3
Hi all,
Just thought i'd spread the word about the game that many of us have been waiting for for years. It is out, and it is pretty good.
It has a few classic Vee Dubs, including a 52 Samba that you can race around the Top Gear test track and eventually own and race on any circuit.
There are also 6v and 12v beetles I believe, as well as many modern water cooled dubs available for purchase.
It is the most realistic driving simulator available, and as an added bonus, the splitty is a prestige car (Meaning you get a cockpit view while
driving) with immaculate attention to detail.
It is only available on Playstation 3, so all of you that do not have a real games console miss out

Might be worth upgrading after the Xmas season is over and the sales are on. Can PS3s play PS2 and PS1 games? I still want to play the old ones.

everyone who has a ps2 games has there old ps2 or they are cheap S/H
pritty sure the chips are out for ps3 so that the only way i would buy one 360 chips have been around for over 3 years but why to many probs

Hi
I've been putting off buying a PS3 until this game came out, it will have to be good to beat Forza on X Box.
On second thought the last thing I need now is a distraction from building my real car.

Forza 3 was unreal on 360!
I'm pretty tempted to buy a ps3 just for GT5!
I herd though that there is no brake upgrades available in the modifying section Nor can you swap engines. However this is an unconfirmed report so who knows!

There's no brake upgrades available at the moment. There wasn't enough space for it apparently. However, they're releasing loads of updates in the
near future.

You can upgrade just about everything else though, with the exception of engine swaps or sub woofers.
And no, the current PS3s can't play PS2 or PS1 games. Bit of a shame, but a problem easily solved - don't throw away your old consoles! For those
PS2 owners, GT4 was quite good. It had a split window bug in it (Upgradable to 40 odd angry horses from memory)
Pollywaffle, what did you do to get the split beetle? I have not come across it yet. I've only played it for about an hour so far.
Forgot to mention, you can also purchase a schwimmwagon and a kubelwagon from the VW dealership in the game. Don't think there are any water courses
in the game, but here's hoping!

Hmm, I won the split window but I can't remember for what event. I also won the kubelwagon too and I can't remember where. I've been playing for
about 4 hours a night since the release and it's all a blur

GT5 has released two new car packs as Down loadable content at $7 a pop.
One pack has a 1966 beetle in addition to less exciting stuff like a Lamborghini Aventador
http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-car-pack-3-speed-test-dlc-packs-availa...
They also released Car pack 2 which has the Scirocco and Golf VI R
http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-car-pack-2-dlc-now-available/
One thing that I have found fun about it is that you can buy a massive turbo upgrade for the 66 bug punching it up to 202 hp with the rest of the
upgrades.
There are also other download packs that change the game in different ways, but it made my day to race a digital version of the exact year model of my
bug in the same colour around the nurburgring.
You can also make it a cal looker by changing the aero parts, or fit a huge wing off a 930(?).
