ok, there is a few possibilities you can check but it takes a while. Turn the ignition off and get a helper. Have your battery *mostly* flat. If it
goes flat all my itself this should not be a problem. Put a multi meter on the battery, will prob just read 12 volts. switch your ignition on and
the volts should drop. It needs to be flat enuf that the interior light makes a noticable drop in volts (.4 or so.) Now pull all the fuses and turn
the ignition on. Any drop? If so track back from there (let me know and I can walk you backwards from there, unlikely though) Now while your
faithfull offsider watches the meter slowly put each fuse back in ONE AT A TIME. you may even see a tiny spark as you do put the offender in
(unlikely if batt flat enuf) What you will see is the voltage drop when the drain is fused back into the loop. That should get you into the loop that
has the drain in it. Make sure your interior light is off at the time of test, radio too.
The battery needs to be flat enuf or the large amount of juice left in it will not let the volts drop.
Good luck, and may the karma be with you!:vader |

Thanks for that, Ill give it a go.
Robo, its draining quickly, Ill take it for a run , say about 20 minutes get home stop it start it straight away and its barely got enough kick to
get going again, if I leave it sit for a few hours it it wont kick over at all. Completely drained.

If it drains fast it must be drawing a fair bit of juice & a "bush mechanic's" approach could be to the remove all the fuses &
then put them back one at a time as above but "tickle" the connections -ie connect the fuse , disconnect etc & look for a spark as you
do it. That could identify the circuit responsible.

If it's draining while you're taking it for a run - sounds like it's not getting any charge from the alternator! The last time I had
that problem was in a mark 1 Golf: the belt to the alternator had come off. Have you checked that the alternator is charging?

Yep every single thing was checked by auto electrition and mechanic but hey Guess what!!!!! Just keep an eye on those excide batterys, the old one
was one the new one was one, put in a different brand and kombis fine, just a case of kombi rejecting that brand or they were just two dodgy batterys
new or not. Thankgod the problem was solved, have you ever been in that situation when you cant find the problem? Your heart misses beats and you
feel sick with worry, cant communicate, cant function, this is what its been like for the last few days, thankgod im on holidays and havnt had to
think about work at the same time.
Its all over,
Ree
Your handy hints still were appreciated as I dont know much but I love to learn, Everyday on this forum is a valuable lesson for me a passionate kombi
lover/owner with not a great deal of knowledge to keep it running on my own.
Three cheers for the forum !!!!:thumb

Glad to hear you got it sorted! unbeliveable that a new battry is a dud, but I have heard this story before from others, I spose its the luck of the
draw.
at least your frustration is over now, and you can stop worrying.
