WA hoon laws are impressive!
So this is a bit of a whinge, but i got my first taste of the western australian hoon laws toady.
So in july i drove my super bug over here from Qld. It has a mild 1915 with a fat boy exhaust and sounds pretty good if i do say so. Today i was in
the driving mood and went to the shops and i was putting my foot into it in first and second.
On my way home i took off from a set of lights normally but to change into second i gave it a good boot to see if i could loose any traction and then
slowed and turned into my driveway.
As i turned in i thought there was some drug raid near my house because i heard a sirens and screeching tyres behind me but to my oh sh@#t kind of
sigh it was the HIGHWAY PATROL.
They went all over, under, on top of and inside my car. This did worry me, not the first time it has happened to me but you pretty much know when they
do that, that they want to give you some kind of "infringement". I had Qld plates on, i didn t have my rego sticker on and i haven t changed my Qld
license over yet. But they did yellow sticker the car because of oil leaks, noise and no passenger mirror.
When i told them that rego runs out in 20 days and have to go over the pits anyway and asked them to have grace, they told me no and that they could
tow my car if they wanted! I asked them how i was supposed to know of WA'S hoon laws and he said that because you are driving on WA roads you are
meant to know everything about the laws. Wow.
But there was more conversing but all in all, i could of come off much worse and yes i was being a mild hoon but definitely nothing dangerous or
public nuisancish.
If only motor sport wasn t so expensive.

just a tip, the law was changed a couple of months ago with regard to mirrors internal and external, your cop was keen.
i'm guessing your bug never had a factory mirror fitted, if so its exempt from inspection PROVIDED the center internal rear view mirror is totally
unobstructed. if you had a smashed or broken L/H mirror you are shafted!
Theres a shit load of hooning here, its good to know the cops are trying to do something, its also very disturbing people are having cars impounded
that have not been hooning.

well thats what i said vlad, but the cop reckons they loose about 2 million a year out the hewn laws. Because of the cars that get confiscated then
have to be sold and what not.
But that doesn tmake sense to me.

Highway patrol Police have so many laws they can get anyone
these days...
not locking Your car when You pay for fuel..
or leaving the windows down..
I thought driving in a manner dangerous to the public
could be made to get just about anyone...
YIKES...
still having QLD plates and Licence...
Now that is punishable by death in NSW ....

i drive my street race bug everyday to work.no interior "i wear earplugs",4 point harness,loud straight through muffler...but i usualy drive
carefuly...and am always on the lookout.....
looks like u ran into some power tripping pigs.....
no passenger mirror,,pppffff.it never came out with one....
in regards to hooning here,we have a filthy rich government and so much land they could build a purpose built track and run street car nights to try
and get the hoons off the roads,well at least get some hooning out of their system.

I'll tell you a funny story.. I was driving to work in a VE commodore SV6. I stopped for fuel and was pulling back on to the main road (west swan rd)
stopped waiting for a turn. a gap came and I moved off, as i started I felt that I was on loose gravel on the edge of the road and backed of a little
as to not spin the wheels. this made my gap not as large as I would have liked. So once on the road I gased it a little, remember this is only a V6
with traction control and it was only to 60 kmh.... and yep I got pulled over and given one hell of a talking to so I stated that I would talk to all
the people around and get their details and have our day is court. I thnk this worked and was the only thing stopping me from gettting a fine.

The law states you have to properly secure your vehicle when not attended. Some funny cop tried to give me a ticket for my buggy.... As for the hoon laws.....good on them!! I see idiots every night doing
stupid things that could cause harm to others.

So are you meant to take your children inside with you when paying for fuel? I would think the law says yes. However the difficulty in getting two
children under 2 years old out of the car and taken inside to pay for fuel is pretty difficult, and I am sure there would be circumstances that are
harder.
Whatever happened to driveway service?
I was a bowser boy back in the 80's. Fill the car, then ask if they wanted the oil checked, windscreen wiped, and washer bottle filled. Some asked
for the tyres checked too.

That is pretty horrible
They would probably just tell you to lock the car with your children in it. And that's even worse!!

Educate you young-uns, get real service and evade the law. Teach your kids to check the oil, water and tyre pressures while you are inside paying for
fuel.
After all, what else are they good for?

I'm pretty sure once your on property the cops are not able come on your land unless you have committed a crime ,which a traffic infringement is
not.
A friend of mine did a burnout out the front of his house and a cop pulled up behind him.When he saw them he drove up his driveway and got out ,the
cop said if he got out on the street he would have confiscated his car but cos he drove onto his property he couldn't do anything.

The cops can come on your land whenever they feel like it,as can anybody else.I personally know of a few people who have lost their license for drink
driving on their own property as well as doing burnouts etc. One of my friends also had his vehicle confiscated and was charged with driving in a
dangerous manner and being in control of a motor vehicle without a license. All done in his front yard in a rural setting. Obviously the cops had
nothing better to do,but his neighbours had complained...... and yes all 3 went to court and they all lost The lesson to be learnt.....DONT GET CAUGHT (and be nice to your neighbours...)

Hoon.....man that was a word I had no cue about.
Since am a Yank, I had no cultural context in which to have knowledge of its meaning.
I also had no cultural reference about what "pom" meant until I joined up here.
You Aussies regularly stump me when it comes to words.

I actually was wondering what would have happened if just said nothing and continued on inside and didn t come out. Im guessing i would have soon seen
a tow truck in my driveway.
But for me i, I love cars, I love driving and i feel you can t do anything over here if you have a slightly modified car without attracting a lot of
attention.
If only there was someway we could protest this injustice?????
