WTB Running engine suit oval beetle

So me and a mate have just started a 56 beetle project and are in need of an engine. We are unsure as to what type of engine to go for at the moment, more or less putting the feelers out and seeing what people have. A budget of around the $500 mark but are willing to move with what ever comes up. Anything in Victoria would be great.

Thanks for the help

Regards
James

Something like that would be really cool but we would like to get something that we can build up ourselves, were only young and want to get something that we can tinker with and learn from. That and were only poor 19 year olds :P

Have a 1600 motor that was a good runner when pulled out of a 72 Beetle. Would be looking for more than $500 though, let me know if interested.

Cheers
