Frustration building... how do i install a new Pedal kit???


Iv spent all day on the bloody thing and iv gotten no where!

i bought a Pedal kit off Classic Vee Dub for the correct year and i can't figure it out!!

how do you install this kit??

my bug is a 1969 so there's no problem with the wrong kit.

the peddle doesn't seem to line up with the roller, the spring is just plan different, the random screw looking shape thing just goes no where.... soo confused please help!

any help please :(

Ok seriously just thought i had it then but no...

ok well if no one has an idea how to replace it, maybe someone has a picture of a roller pedal intact?? or a diagram??

My pedal didnt hit the roller right till i saw that the pedal hinge was lightly bent and recorrected it as such.

Replaying it with all that stuff shouldn't be a hard job. On the small wheel knock off the circlip... slide the little wheel off and the washer... replace both.. knock on a new circlip...

Then tap out the old hinge pin and thus freeing the old pedal. Fit the new pedal rubber to the new metal pedal. Line it up with the hinge on the pan.. aim the new hinge pin with the 'female' hole and tap in. would be a little tight for space... lube (like spare engine oil or wd40) would make it easier to 'slide' into place.

By rights the new pedal, which should have the roller guide in the exact same position as your original pedal should automatically be in the right position, as long as the rest of your pedal assembly is still fitted firmly to the chassis and the accelerator shaft and arm on the passenger side is firmly across with the shaft circlip still fitted.

I was going to go roller pedal... but i have no idea how to fit (new ones sittin in the garage) ... Whether its some swap methodology or complete retrofit/weld in new bracketly job.

sometimes some gentle physical persuasion to 'bent' it in place whilst mounted to the hingle isn't a bad idea :)... its pretty soft steel.

WELL
Mine is the original and it doesn't fit well either..
the roller doesn't run on the curved bit correctly...
I just bent the pedal so it would work...
so, the bits welded to the floor are probably out of alignment.
???
there is no adjustment... as far as I can see...

or You cut off the curved bit on the back of the pedal and reweld it in the correct spot....??

yer the new pedal doesnt line up.. i made it line up eventually

where does the spring go ? and what way up?

when i fit it, it seems that it does nothing...

where does the bolt thingo go that's under the roller in the pic? doesn't seem necessary


well i may have fitted it correctly but yer... weird..

My pedal hasn't got a spring... it doesn't seem to be an issue.

but typically the hoop of the spring would have the hinge pin threaded through the centre hole of the spring, with the little leg of the spring facing the floor pan and towards the front, and the longer part resting against the pedal.

the bolt thingo could be a optional bushing to slide through the gut of the black roller as a spacer if say the rod of the accelerator roller was worn (to return it to oem diameter) to the roller fits firmly...

I can only assume.. but I don't ahve a spring or bolt thingo :S

Hi Chris
the spring fits into the groove in the long pivot pin so it holds the pedal onto the pin an in place...
the rubber roller cannot really be moved as its on a metal arm

it seems to be the back of the pedal that is the problem...

there needs to be adjustment where the pedal pivots...
on the floor...
