Horsepower Graphs
I was wondering if anyone has horsepower and torque graphs for a stock 1300 and stock 1600 engine? Was looking for flywheel figures if at all
possible.

A long time ago I had a small blue book which had graphs of power, wind resistance and aerodynamic lift for a Beetla and type 3.
It was written in the early 60's in England.
The interesting thing about the power curve was it dropped off quite slowly after the peak.
I recall the graphs "proved" that it is totally impossible to get a Beetle over 100 MPH.

Blech - wind resistance, aerodynamics... all 100 MPH in a beetle requires is the right level of "pucker factor" !!!
I remember reading somewhere that a stocko 1600 officially has f#$% all at the flywheel, and a 1300 has 4/5th of that !!!

My old bug did 100mph with a 1776....... the steering however did get very light at that speed as the front lifted.....

I think take-off speed for a Beetle was calculated to be about 200 km/h.
According to the Gregory's manual a 1600 superbug has 60 bhp (SAE) @ 4400 rpm
Max torque 82 lb/ft (SAE) @ 3000 rpm.
also 10.6 kg/m (DIN) @ 2000 rpm.
Interesting that the DIN method gives peak torque at a lower rpm. I suspect the SAE measurements are without fan and generator.

Here are some figures for the 1500 engined autostick semi automatic beetle
it probably won't help with any "normal" beetles... lol
and its only gear ratios etc... no horsepower ratings..
I'll see if I can find any graphs in other books I have...
interesting enough the more I paint My engine the better it goes... lol
