Stockton Beach over New Year's weekend anyone?

Hi all,

Anyone heading to Stockton over the NY weekend?

Would be good to catch up with any buggies. The Lavis Lane entrance is a breeze now that they've remodelled it.

Cheers, and Happy New Year to all! :)

Marc.

G'day Andrew,

Will probably go up on Monday if anyone's interested.

How's 10am at the servo at Lavis sound?

Cheers,
Marc.

Caught up with domestic stuff and only just seen this! Can't make it today, sorry Andrew.

Fingers crossed for the weather tomorrow and I'll get to the servo about 10 if there's still interest!

My number's 0412299901 if anyone's keen.

Cheers, Marc.

Was a great day out, hot inland, but a cool seabreaze kept it to a nice temperature on the beach.
In attendance we had:
Mick - Blue Manx
Barry - Red Cougar
Simon - Red Cougar
Anthony - White Baja
Dale - Red J&S
Kevin - White J&S
Andrew (me) - Green Sharpbuilt
Went on at Lavis Lane, had a bit of a play in the dunes, went to the vegie bowl (nice big set of dunes with vegetation at the back), the sand was soft in parts, it was a bit weird, places that you thought you couldnt get bogged you would just sink, all part of the fun.
Then cruised up to tin city and met Dale and family and Kevin. Helped move some furniture between huts and went for a quick swim nearby. Then cruised up to birubi beach and met simon. Had late lunch and a swim. No waves so didnt even get the boards off the roof. Got home about 7:30 just as it started to storm.
Anyway a few photos and two videos. The first video is me getting stuck on the apex of a dune (actually from a few days ago but i've uploaded it to my 2011 folder). Captures us trying to get it off and down the hill.
Second video was this morning. The baja doesnt have reverse gear and got stuck going up a bit of a hill, two snatch straps joined together and I just managed to get him out.

Darn it! Looks like I missed a great day out. :(

Will try and keep the weekend either side of Australia day free and/or the day itself.

Hopefully I'll remember to put something on here nearer to the day and we'll all get together.

You can never have enough VW's on the beach when there are so many 4WD's that all look the same!

Marc.

I just created a topic for probably the next major trip (Australia Day), on the dune buggy forums and manx club. Could make a topic on AVD, but most people here don't have buggies so thought it would be more appropriate on the other forums.

Australia day is on a Wednesday, so tradaitionally a few people come from as far away as Sydney and even QLD so would want to make a good weekend of it, so depending on who can go when, suggest either make it ther weekend before, weekend after, or we could just go up the Wednesday. Discussed it with the local boys today and we are all fairly easy on dates.

We also try and get together on the Easter long weekend, and dare say a few might just wait until Easter.

Yes Ian, all adds to the fun.

I got this one for a few weeks ago, some big dune climbing, nobody got stuck.
