Roof rack on a Super Beetle.
Has anyone got any pics of a super with a roof rack? I'm looking to get some roadtrips sorted out asap and I can't decide between a wooden or a
stainless one. Does anyone recommend a make/model?
Life deals such hard decisions.
On a side not i'm guessing there easy to install and aren't going to leave a mark afterwards.

If that's your bug in the photo, I'd opt for wooden racks - they'll look fantastic in contrast to the white!

If it is something you are going to take on and off, and want the option of fitting a luggage box, bike rack, ski rack or any one of a number of
options, you could get a Rhino Rack like I did - see photos - (or something similar).
I find it holds very well, and I reckon it gives it a sort of modern surfie look (for want of a better term).

I have two ROLA roof bars I can put on in about 5 minutes...
I use the Yoga matt foam under the supports...
You need to be careful when putting them on & off that you don't scratch the paint...
with a roof rack... once You have fitted it and found how to stop any damage to your car.. it would be OK..
some people use clear hose cut in half to go under the supports
but depends on what the supports look like...
I haven't really taken any notice...
but Roof racks are now an accessory....
You don't need to use them any more... lol
just have them on Your car...

Joel, how do you attach them? Is it just the standard rubber mounts?

Danny those pics were just pulled from thesamba gallery, which is why they both have those ugly american indicators.
Never had a rack myself but the ones i've seen have a channel that sits over the gutter then a bolt clamps down to lock it in place

Here is my beetle with roof bars...
they are all coated with plastic.. but I still put something soft underneath...
as Joel said...
roof racks usually have six supports and a piece that clamps over the rain channel on either side..
or maybe 4 clamps??
