hi, who knows if they are the same and can be mounted either way on the column[1962 bug/ghia

If you're talking about the indicator stalk, they are mounted the same for both left and right hand drive. i.e. The stalk is mounted so it is to the left of the steering column (for the bug at least).

Have tried it briefly on my Ghia
The loom seems to stretch a fair bit.Too much for my liking but you could always get a sparky to extend the loom
Think that was the only problem I had.
I looked at a 64 beetle the other day and that had an earlier indicator stalk (late 50's) on the right hand side and worked fine

There is usally enough length in the loom to turn the indicator switch around the column, i changed the switch to us 67 model with the high beam on the end of the lever on my 60 beetle while i was at it.
