T5 towing ability?

Tossing up getting a T5 probably between 05 and 08 (given budget constraints) turbo diesel.

As I tend to move a few cars around on car trailers (esp kombis) I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the T5 towing ability?

Have also heard they have had some problems with the auto boxes but not sure if this is true or not.

Any advice on the above is appreciated.
Cheers
Al

Had my T5 nearly 4 years. It had 50,000 Kms up when I bought it, and now has over 100,000.

The 400Nm of torque, and the 6 speed auto, make it the best tow vehicle that I have ever had, and I've had a few - V8 Holden, V8 Falcon, F 100, Merc. ML 450, Mitsubishi Canter, etc.

More than half of my usage of the T5 would be towing, but it still is very economical.:tu::tu::tu:

Cheers, Greg

Just watch out for mystery coolant loss..... the waterpumps are internal on the 2.5 TDi, and generally crap out at about 70,000klms and drain the coolant into the sump

I've had my 08 crewvan LWB 1.9L TDI manuel since about may 10
it started with 15k kms now about 40k
I fitted a 2ton towbar n towed my tandem car trailer with beach buggy + about 1/2 a ton on the trailer + about a ton in the bus (moving house) from Melb to the sunny coast..
cruise controlled on the speed limit for the both days driving..
then I hauled my bay panel from the sunny coast to valla n back last year n just as sweet..
sure the 2.5L has more grunt but being a 6 cyc I couldn't justify payin extra rego n fuel for what I needed plus crewvans are few n far n having a 3 seater T4 for many years we wanted a 5 seater so were super happy to find this
I get around 1k kms outta a tank which is a great bonus
not too hard to tell I'm a happy camper with this ride :)
need to know anymore just sing out das
cheers pauly
