What year is this beetle?

95028049 ID Plate on body
I am guessing its a a 1960's? As it has a reserve tank lever no fuel gauge checked the books but still not sure let me knwo what you think.

Its a 65 model and one of the aussie made pov-pak standards
If its original it will also have the smooth coles cafeteria upholstry, no hood chrome strip and the center section only headliner

As Joel says, the first three numbers of the chassis number tell the tale.
1 = Type 1 (Beetle). 9 = Australian manufactured. US websites and books don't recognise this as they don't know about the Australian VW factory. 5 =
1965 model.
Have a look at the back of the speedo for a date stamp. The wheel centres all have date stamps too (look between the wheel bolts) but they may not be
original. But the spare might!
