POOR MANS TWIN CARBS

Hi Guys

Whats a single barrel carb that one could get two of and stick on 1600 beetle engines

Maybe the old strombergs that came out on the Holdens

Making manifolds isnt an issue, nothing some alloy and a tig cant fix.

Any ideas

old type 3 carbs; they would be perfect;

alot of VW shops have them lying around but I think any solex carb can be used as twin carbs providing you get the linkage to work

if your after old carbs talk to Boris at Vintage Vee Dub

Another carb to think of is the SU which were used abit in the 60's; from all reports they ran very well on 1200 bugs and have endless adjustment

Cheers

I still have a pair of twins off a 1500 wagon motor,a lot of years ago we used a pair of strombergs off the EH holden,with venturi reducers & adjustable main jets very successfully.The Ghia went very hard with these fitted,there wasn't much around that came close to it's performance in those days.Fortunately my hoon days are over & I am happy to just cruise .:no:

Just one of them is bad enough, let alone 2 of the bloody things.

Main problem with using any random carbs as twins is clearance mainly to the fanshroud but also to the body.

Cheap kadrons come up on ebay all the time, I sold my set for $250

Or as mentioned type3 PDSITs if you can find a non worn out pair.
i ran them on my bug for a bit, theyre ok if you get the linkage working well.

when you say "poor mans", how much do you wanna spend? rod sells kadrons for about $500 a kit.... I had one of his second hand kits on my baja and they were great.
