an IRS transmission is fitted with the Porsche CV flanges and is fitted to the chassis .
A new front transmission mounting is made from aluminum

the new chromoly race axles are cut to length and the CV joints fitted .
check out the angle that the axles run at with the engine & tranny pushed a massive 6" forward
the next job is the gearshift . I have opted for a left hand gear change as I feel a lot more comfortable shifting gears with my left hand
A type-3 gearshift plate is used with a cut-down shift rod and modified gearlinkages with precision uni-joints

gearshift nearly completed , seat mounted ,belt anchorages mounted , transmission mounted , axles installed . Now I have to put it back together and pack it away till tomorrow night

I see what you mean about the drive shafts-you still have at least another 50mm to work with. Shorts and white socks is a bit risky while you are fabricating. Do you ever get time to sleep? Great to see DTTF back on track.

the new quaife LSD to suit type-1 IRS transmission using 002 bus drive flanges has also arrived , along with the chromoly 002 drive flanges for 930 Porsche CV joint , also 13mm rear wheel spacers

I have also decided to fit a set of on-board airjacks as the bug will be so low and the alloy composite floor fragile that it would be hard to jack up .

the jacks that I have purchased have 230mm of lift and will lift the bug approx 150mm off the ground

Some good stuff amongst that lot Wayne.That fuel tank looks very much like the one I bought (Procomp from memory) Just have a look at the cap and see if it seals properly when closed.Mine looked OK,but I could lift it off the seat when it was locked tight.They sent me a new cap,but it was no better,so they ended up sending me a complete new assembly ( I think it was a JAZ filler )The holes were very close-just redrilled the tank slightly bigger.I have now decided that I won't use it any way-going to make an ally extension filler neck with a threaded ally cap.It will poke through the top of the ute lid.Love what is happening with DTTF with WP.

Looking good Wayne, getting closer. Gota love all those new parts to mount.
You'll love the Quaife, i have one in the my kombi ,(porshe 6spd) it made a huge difference even on the street, will be awesome on the track!!
You can tighten then up to your liking too.

I have now made a start on the rear body supports , manufacturing bars from the alloy rear bumper support back to the chassis . I have also fitted the correct heads with exhaust tubes so that I can be sure that the rear supports clear them and I can start to manufacture the turbo plumbing etc

Just spotted the air cylinders.Seriously thought about 2 on the back of my car so it could be run in the pits.From the figures you quoted,the cylinders will only be 80mm from the track surface-is that about right? You would have to put a pad under them if the pits were only grass or dirt.Were they very expensive?

that is right Gary . By the CAMS rulebook , no part of a sports sedan shall be any closer to the ground than 40mm . I do not plan to go quite that low but if I can get the lowest part of the car to approx 60mm , this should place the air-jacks at approx 75mm from the ground .

I found them at Ksport-USA and they were $1580 delivered to my doorstep for the set of 4 . Not cheap but a really good quality product and it is going to make life much easier for me at the track with them onboard .

more progress on DTTF over the past couple of days
the carbon fibre rear bumper has been fitted and the body support bars have been manufactured at the rear

the large muffler that I am going to use is fitted and exhaust stubs are bolted to the engine pipes

a outlet hole has been cut in the rh rear guard for the exhaust tailpipe

fuel cell and surge tank are placed in the front of DTTF to assess where they should be mounted

the manufacture of the turbo system for DTTF . I found the best location for the turbo was on the left side of the engine bay . The turbo and all plumbing fit inside the engine lid

I am using the Garrett T-60 turbo that I recently removed from my oval . It will be fitted with a turbo bag to reduce heat radiation around the distributor area . The T-60 turbo has a split type exhaust housing , so I have married 1&3 to one side and 2&4 to the other side for quicker spool-up

the muffler has been cut away at the rear for exhaust pipe clearance . this will be boxed in .

with the engine lid and rear apron fitted , all engine and turbo system components fit inside the engine bay
