rust and cluch


i have a vw beetle that has had a engine fire .the vents below the rear window are now covered with surface rust as are the large slats in side . what would be the best way to get at them to treat and paint . i`d like to remove them but that looks quite hard to do .thanks guys

Paint on some rust converter and wash off with thiner and undercoat.
