Hey from The Gong

Hi everyone,

Been lurking around here for a while but have only recently become active. A bit of background:

Purchased a 61 beetle with 1600 dual port in January 2010 from the nicest pommy bloke who was moving back to the UK the following week. No rust, new interior, mechanically sound, a lucky find. He had been doing it up for his son before he sold it.

I have slowly been adding and tinkering with it over the last year to become "mine". I'm not really a restorer, more of a customiser (I'll post some pics when i wash it). In the near future i hope to get some nice black 8-spoke rims, tint the windows, maybe add some more horsepower. But just gotta wait for that money tree to grow a bit more in the backyard.

Have yet to go to a VW event as i was busy all last year. I can't wait for the Sydney and Berry VW shows, just to check out everyone else's rides.

Cheers

Yeew, I'm totally new to this as well, and from the 'gong! It'll be good to see more early bugs gettin around. I just picked up my '64 at the end of January. Fortunately for me I have an AWESOME mate in Morgan Smith who knows the game and has 'helped' me (more like done all the work) to get it lookin tidy and LOW :-)

I'll be sure to keep an eye out and hopefully get myself to some shows as well :-)
