WTB: old black & white Vic number plates

Hi guys

I am somewhat of a collector of old 6-digit Vic number plates, particularly 60s and 70s stuff starting with H, J, K, L and I. Anything early 60s through late 70s before the 'garden state' plates started.

When you hand these in to vicroads/your local RTA they are gone forever which is a shame.

If anyone has any lying about, is looking to switch to custom plates, or perhaps bought a vic car and took it interstate, id love to buy them! Drop me a PM if you are interested...

cheers!
Aidan

Hi Aidan,

You can still buy the old 'Vic' black and white number plates new from VicRoads, pending availability (when handed in or destroyed). I have done this several times to match the year to the car I have had at the time, and it is also cheaper than paying the transfer!:

Hi Craig

Cheers but I am after the original plates themselves - im aware you can buy old combinations but they are remade using modern format and dont look quite the same.

Aidan

Tried to PM but didn't work for some reason.

I have a pair of JZY045 plates from my '67 beetle. I am in Brisbane, car from Melbourne. I've put on Qld B&W plates from my father-in-laws old '67 beetle, they were the same style as the old Vic ones. The car was delivered in about May'68 so presumably registered then.

I'd like to keep one as part of the cars history, give me a call on 0412 105 789 if you are interested in one plate.
