For sale, my 1963 Beetle 1200 Deluxe with upgraded 1500 engine, 12 volt conversion.
Location, Sydney metro.
Whats been done:
Recently serviced and tuned, all fluids changed.
Clutch replaced including cable and throw out bearing
Transmission shaft oil seal replaced.
Lower engine mounts (the ones on the transmission bell housing) replaced.
Engine recently dropped and pressure washed, tinware cleaned and resprayed, generator replaced with alternator, fuel pump replaced, ignition leads
replaced, new plugs, new vacuum advance distributor, new Bosch blue coil, new pushrod tubes, new crank pulley and alternator pulley, new fuel lines
and filter (glass type), throttle cable replaced, cooling fan cleaned, heat exchangers resprayed, oil cooler cleaned, carb removed, cleaned and
reset.
Gearshift coupling replaced with red urethane one. Empi quickshifter has been removed cleaned and regreased.
All new bulbs.
Registration and roadworthy till December 2011. Passed roadworthy with no issues, just the usual couple of oil leaks (find me a stock Beetle with one
of two leaks!)
Purchased a second hand original steering wheel to replace the one you can see in the pictures below, this is now installed but needs repair and paint
to be like new, currently its good as a rat look though. Have the steering wheel in the picture if needed.
Good tyres, great brakes for age.
Very tidy interior with Sony CD player, 1 front speaker and 2 rears. Front seats upgraded to have headrests, in great condition, no tears.
Seat belts front and rear (with middle lap belt)
Lockable glove box.
4 brand new stainless hub caps, one is missing in the photos as it was a bit of a tighter fit than the others and I haven't yet got hold of a mallet
to get it on.
Front disc brake upgrade.
On the whole a very solid car, if I was keeping it I would love to respray it but as a general daily driver she pulls well and is mechanically sound.
Has no serious rust at all, just the usual rear quarter panels which are a simple enough fix.
Selling with the old front bumper if you want it, I bought a secondhand replacement which was in better condition than the original but thought id
keep hold of the original in case I ever got round to rechroming.
Very stock car.
Pictures (apologies for the upside down!) and it does have a passenger seat, had taken it out to fix up a sticking runner:

Hi mate as far as I know its always been black, i havent seen any signs of a previous colour anywhere and I've had the door panels off, had the
carpet up etc.
It is rough in places but then again shines up nice in other places, i actually think a solid days polishing could fix it up a lot but like i say
ideally youd be looking at a respray, i had a quote for around $1500 for a full respray in black, would be a little more to fix some of the rust spots
but like i say there is nothing too serious, the drivers side rear quarter panel has the usual rust damage with some bubbling on the passenger side
quarter panel too. there is very very minor bubbling around 2 windows but its nothing serious, certainly wouldnt involve welding, just treating and a
bit of filler.
