63 Standard Bumper and hubcap paint code
does anyone have the paint code to paint the bumpers and hubcaps on a standard 63? original paint code states aluminium 502 which is a type of mid
gloss silver/yellow

i just checked my paint book for 1963 and its lists Smoke Grey 6033
in 1962 they used Steel Grey 286-4759 which is slightly darker than the above colour

I used to see them when walking to school...
I thought they looked terrible,... lol
Many people swapped the bumpers and hubcaps for chromed ones...
and many fitted glove box lids too... and interior lights...
why VW didn't paint them silver????
its closer to chrome IMHO...

yes I have seen some, original cars getting very rare, mine is the transitional model october 63, little bit different to the 62 you are describing,
have to post some pictures soon
