The '74 Fatty

Hey guys,

thought it was time I'd post some pictures up of my 1974 L-Bug. It was purchased in 1995 by my dad and brother, and has been in the family ever since!
It's been through a few engines swaps and a few other changes.
Specs to come!

Cheers,
Nick

Hi

Nice car, love Aero 1303s. Is there any reason why your car needs two tachos?

Originally couldn't get one working so got the monster. But it helps when under the loud pedal as the other tacho sits under the steering wheel.
Have taken the big one out currently. Its nicer with more vision over the dash now. :) cheers Steve

Yep, was talking to him about something similar last week. I have to figure out first where I need the guages to be with my new seat and wheel combo.

Love the car by the way. Looking at that almost makes me want aero guards for mine.

What have you done with all the previous engines?

Will we see this at the Nationals in May?

Cheers
Craig

Yeah Richard now has the mold for the dash. I treat it like gold so it doesn't crack or anything. The original engine was sold with my old 73 bug. And the 2180cc power tune engine is going in my Dads (alansvw) 61 Ghia. Its a work in progress but should look really good.

Yes! will certainly be at nationals cant wait.

Thanks craig

Seeing as I happen to have a zillion photos of the car, I figured I'm put some more up!

Enjoy,
Ollie

How do you like the CB turbo setup? What size turbo are you running?
I just picked up the same header with the schwitzer s2a, wastegate etc and not sure what to put it on yet.

Hey Owen,
Yeah mate im running the Schwitzer s2a Cb setup. So far i have been very happy with the setup. With the larger capacity motor i find there is minimal lag. Also you will struggle to find a better sounding header and exhaust setup. Its a little loud but i like it  You can always get there turbo muffler which bolts straight up and keep things quieter.

Few problems i have had are some blocked jets and water in the carbs. Will keep you posted.

What are your options to put it in? i think its a fairly universal turbo setup that will run well on most setups.

Cheers

Not sure yet, either a mild engine around 2l but I keep thinking about trying a 1600 sized engine bult to rev really high, got a few crazy ideas.
