Gonna leave the dyno until after warwick, the car is running sweet at the moment and as you probably know you run the car pretty hard on the dyno and we don't really want to run the risk of anything happening before warwick. We will be getting on the dyno before we tear this engine down for a reference point for hp. I'm interested to see what this engine is pushing out though as it don't feel like any 1916cc i have ever driven

All ready to go! finished off all the little jobs over the weekend, washed it and put it away till friday! We never ended up adjusting the height of the rear as it squats pretty hard on the launch, we will have a chat to alot of you guys over the warwick weekend and get some advice on what we should do.... it seems to be settling a bit though. See you all at warwick! :tu:

But instead of Tein, Sparco etc. make it stuff that'd be useful for a weekend in Warwick.... "Heineken, Smiths Crisps, Cornflakes, Sunshine (eggs), TipTop (bread), COON, Is Don Is Good (bacon)...."

Man, they really need to give me some stuff to do round here....

Well warwick has come and gone, the budget drag car ran faultless all weekend, The crack in the case never gave us any trouble, I ran a best time of 9.022 @ 74mph with a 1.9 60ft which was good for runner up in the aircooled class. absolutely chuffed with the car and we are very happy with the 9 flat starting point.... Dave will tear the engine down after the sydney event to replace the cracked case and do some port work on the heads, a possible cam change might be in order also.

Now the build continues... I was advised by Frosty at warwick that willowbank raceway will not allow me to run with no engine cover, so over the next couple of months i'll be fitting an engine lid and removable rear apron I picked up this totally sweet deck lid yesterday! i thought seen as everyone liked my unpainted blue bonnet so much  i would continue the trend with the back of the car!:lol::lol::lol: I also picked up this rear apron i'm gonna cut down and make fit. I'm looking into fitting a big friggin wing too, i think they look cool

You should go with a fibreglass decklid and apron. Keep the weight down! lol
Any luck with the rear wing? I have a mate that could make you one.

westi is looking into the wing, will see how he goes as I'm in no hurry... As for the deck lid and rear apron, those ones in the pic are free :) fibreglass ones aren't. Maybe in it's next evolution. The steel ones don't weigh a hell of alot anyway.

I don't and can't run deck lid so we'll see what they say about mine. I believe as long as you don't start the car until you move out of staging lane to the track all is good.

Don't risk it dude, they will frown on you!
You could fit something on there surely!!
It'll probably look like a fish skeleton though with all the protuding bits.

True!

I will when the top fuel cars do. It's a ridiculous rule.
I can see the OH&S side of things with people sticking fingers in belts but it's a staging lane. I think as long as you're not driving your car forward in the lanes I should be ok. The guy that sits next to me has a daughter who works at W'bank and runs an altered (also with no engine cover). I'll get him to clarify.

Hey there,
It was the first time I haven't run an engine lid too ( Andra guy told me to park it) Stanley has always run without a problem. Stupid rule cause anyone that gets too close will trip over the exhaust....and burn their leg.....( i guess then they could get fingers caught in the fan belt )
I think the guy was just wanting to exert his authority and picked the beetle. at least take one just in case. Stanley is right too don't drive it forwad in the staging lanes too.

Feedback received from W'bank so far is it depends on your class rules and it may have just been an over zealous steward, however if he's not happy no racing.
I don't believe Wally runs one and his car is ANDRA teched and has been running for years

I'll suck it and see.....
