Gday from Centran Queensland
Hey guys hows it going.
Im DJ, aka Bomber, 22 year old spray painter and petrol head from Rockhampton CQ.
Recently i picked up a 71 superbug for $100, fairly happy with my acquisition. Was keen on the whole volksrod thing untill it clicked....I have the
macky strut front end....bugger.
Anyway i'll have a bit of a look around and see if i can make a new game plan hehehe.
Heres the only shots i have of it atm, sorry about the general crappyness of the picks.
Currently its parked down the side of my shed, awaiting space.
My shed is a bit full up right now, have two Toranas, my ski boat, my 80 series Landcruiser and my Harley cramed in there lol.
Luckily for the bug one of the Toranas is sold, so as soon as the new owners come to pick it up the bug will have a bay.
But yeah im hell new to bugs but not new to modifying/restoring cars so it should be interesting.
Cheers.

Hi DJ,
bit of a bugger about the macpherson front end when it comes to doing a volksrod. But I gather being a spray painter, having so many cars to play
with that this little 71 model will turn out real nice. Keep us updated as you progress and you can started a thread in the members cars section for
us all to follow.
Cheers, Kev
I thought rebuilding a VW would be cheap - Shit I was wrong, just don't let the wife know !!!!

Cheers guys.
Its raining and im not in shed mood so i'll spam this nice pure VW place with some picks of some of my other stuff and some stuff i have done.
Besides painting i do all my own mechanics, build my own engines, my own fabrication etc. The main reason i can have all these toys is im not paying
anyone else labor!!
Current play things..
My LJ, this car is my absolute baby, i've had it since i was 14, rebuilt it by the time i was 16, pulled it apart again when i was 19 and well its
not back together yet.
When i first got her
And two years and a lot of learning later
First car i ever sprayed. The car went through a series of mods changes etc, and adventually i decided i was sick of buffing the acrylic and that i
should redo her in 2k. Thats about where i am now, got the paint on Jan this year.
In the booth
And back home
Done a lot since then but this is a VW forum so im keeping it brief.
Harley, had this for nearly four years now, has slowly morphed closer to the picture i have in my head, but has always been a side project to the
other stuff. These shots were taken just after i did the latest mod, lowered the back 2", dont have any picks of it in the sun like that yet
though!!
Ski boat
Got this in a pretty rough state and have done a shitload of work to it, but in the interest of keeping things short and sweet this is how it sits
now
^ thats me
And lastly the LH, again i'll skip most of it and just go to the interesting stuff.
Was challenged by a mate to a drag race, $1000 budget anything goes, so this is what i came up with
Totally home made blow through turbo setup, only things i didnt make myself were the turbo and wastegate, everything else was scratch built, including
the intercooler. Went like a shower of shit but i pulled it out recently as it was a bit to illegal haha. Car is now sold awaiting pickup.
Some shots of the car
Ok, hoping i havnt bored you guys to much with non VW stuff. If anyone wants to know more about anything lemme know im only to happy to share!!
Cheers.

While I am a VW man and love looking at work people do on their VWs, I do still like to look at well done work on other cars occasionally, and that
looks like well done work. Well done. lol
